Why pediatric dermatology?

We understand that kids are not ”little adults”. Certain dermatologic conditions are unique to children, and diseases sometimes present differently in children than in adults. A child’s skin is subject to many developmental changes and hormonal fluctuations that don’t affect adult skin. Certain skin conditions may present differently in children than in adults, making diagnosis tricky for general dermatologits, who are not attuned to the naunces of children’s skin. At the time pediatricians, may lack the specialized dermatologic knowledge needed to diagnose and treat anything but the most simple pediatric skin conditions.

Even more importantly, caring for children takes a unique approach that can’t be developed by seeing a few pediatric patients. We are dedicated to providing a warm, caring, and child-friendly atmosphere.
